TokyoDev is a sponsor of RubyKaigi 2024. With Rails Girls Japan and WNB.rb, we’re hosting a Dinner for Women and Non-binary Rubyists on May 14th, Tuesday (Day 0 of RubyKaigi 2024) in Okinawa!

Join us and get to know other women and non-binary Rubyists over some traditional Okinawan food and drink!

Description

Driven by wanting to create an event where women and non-binary Rubyists can connect, and also with the thought of having some delicious Okinawan food, this event was born!

Attending big tech events can sometimes be daunting, especially if you don’t know many people. Through this dinner, we hope attendees can get to know other Rubyists and make friends before the conference begins! After all, a great conference is made even better when it is enjoyed with friends.

It’s also a chance for attendees to connect across different cultures and backgrounds, all while enjoying some traditional Okinawan food and drinks. Knowing how or what to order, especially if you don’t speak Japanese, can be challenging, but at this dinner we will take care of you!

Planned Menu: Sea grapes, assorted sashimi, scrambled tofu, charcoal-grilled island pork, champuru (Okinawan stir fry), fried gourami (fish), rafute (Okinawan braised pork belly), mozuku (seaweed) tempura, Okinawa soba.
*Unfortunately, the course cannot be modified to accomodate dietary requirements

Both English and Japanese speakers are welcome!

• This event is only open to those attending RubyKaigi 2024.
• Attendees must abide by RubyKaigi Policies https://rubykaigi.org/2024/policies/
• We are planning for 30 attendees, if you are unable to attend please take the time to cancel your attendance.
• We may share photos and details of the event on the TokyoDev website.
• Children are welcome, however please contact the organisers first. Also please note this is an event where alcohol will be consumed.
• We ask that anyone who attends identify as a woman or non-binary person. That being said, we will not be “verifying” anybody’s gender or policing who can and cannot be in our event. Anyone who self-identifies as a woman or non-binary person is welcome.

RubyKaigi 2024のスポンサーであるTokyoDevが、Rails Girls JapanとWNB.rbと一緒に女性とノンバイナリーのRubyistのための食事会を主催します。 開催日はRubyKaigi2024のDAY 0とも言える5月14日（火）。場所はもちろん沖縄です！

女性とノンバイナリーのRubyistが出会える場を作りたい！そしておいしい沖縄料理を堪能したい！という思いから、このイベントを企画しました。

大きなテックイベントへの参加はちょっと緊張するもの。特に知らない人が多いとなおさらです。カンファレンスが始まる前に、この前夜祭で他のRubyistと知り合いになったり、友達を作ってもらえると嬉しいです。すばらしいカンファレンスだからこそ、友達と一緒ならさらにもっと楽しくなるはず。

沖縄の伝統料理やドリンクに舌鼓を打ちながら文化や経歴が違う人と出会えるのも、この前夜祭の楽しみの一つ。私たちが選んだ沖縄ならではのおいしい料理とドリンクを囲んで、いろんな人たちとたくさん話して盛り上がってください。英語を話す人も日本語を話す人も大歓迎です！

• TokyoDevのウェブサイトでイベントの写真や詳細を公開することがありますので、ご了承ください。
• 子供も歓迎ですが、まず主催者に連絡してください。また、アルコールが飲まれるイベントであることにご注意ください。
• 参加者は女性またはノンバイナリーであると自認されている方に限定します。ただ、性別を”証明”していただいたり、参加できる人できない人に厳密な規定を設けるつもりはありません。性自認が女性またはノンバイナリーである人であれば、どなたでも歓迎します。
